SOMI Foods Inc’s Concentrated Miso
Dex Yamanashi, international sales manager at Somi Foods, explained that the company is attracted to the UK market because it is home to the largest Japanese community in Europe.
The group also wants to tap into growing demand in the country – and Europe more broadly - for vegan and plant-based dishes. To this end, SOMI has developed a vegan variety of ramen stock.
Outside the UK, SOMI wants to grow its presence in continental Europe’s urban centres. “There has been an increase in demand for vegan and plant based dishes specifically in the wealthier European cities. We are looking to have a greater presence in Malta and Hungary as there are sizeable Japanese communities within these locations,” the sales executive noted.
Yamanashi also stressed the positive impact of the Japanese diet on longevity. “Our foods are very healthy because of the ingredients we use, tofu, soba, fresh fish, seaweed. It helps the Japanese are known to live longer because of their diet.
“Our Miso G concentrated soup flavour is made with carefully selected ingredients including miso and vegetables. Miso is high in protein which is effective for lowering cholesterol and blood pressure levels and has been known to boost the immune system. We never add MSG to our products.”
