Danone's lower sugar yoghurts with no sweeteners
Danone launched Light & Free, a range of fruit-flavoured yoghurts with less salt and no sweetener, targeted at women looking to manage their weight.
Marketing director Danone fresh products France David Chazet said the range appealed to French consumers’ demand for both healthy and natural.
Made without any natural or artificial sweeteners, the yoghurts contain 30% less sugar, kilo calories and fat than the average, standard yoghurt.
The products score an A on France’s official (but voluntary) nutrient profiling scheme, which Danone recently pledged to use on its products.
The yoghurts are made with French milk and available in five flavours: strawberry, raspberry & pomegranate; peach & passionfruit; pear & vanilla; and wild blueberry.
The peach & passionfruit yoghurt contains 3.1% cane sugar, 7.1% peach and 2% passion fruit, with carrot juice used for colour.
The recommended retail price is €1.99 for a pack of four, and the range has already been rolled out across Europe.
