Food Safety Recall round-up 19-25 May 2018
Calzone misbranding
US: Uno Foods Inc. is recalling ham and cheese calzones due to a packing error.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS) said the product is labeled as a ham and cheese calzone but contains a buffalo chicken calzone.
Buffalo chicken calzones were produced on 1 May and were sent through distribution facilities to retail stores in Chicago and Texas.
Cases of 8-count packs containing 6-oz. individually cello-wrapped “Uno Pizzeria & Grill Ham & Cheese handcrafted Calzone” have a “Best if Used By” date May 1, 2019 and “8121” package code.
The problem was discovered after the firm received a customer complaint and then notified FSIS. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption.
