Incorrect naming - worryingly
There is a worrying persistence in the use of the name Enterobacter sakazakii since this no longer exists. The organism was redefined in 2007 and reclassified as the genus Cronobacter (composed of 7 species). Subsequently lot of changes have occurred regarding detection methods. These days phenotyping cannot be reliably used conformation of the organism's identity.
I am therefore concerned that the old name from 10 years ago is being used here in this alert.
