Listeria in environment prompts ice pop recall
US: The Ziegenfelder Company is recalling 3,000 cases of ice pops due to potential Listeria monocytogenes.
Frozen products were sold 12 to a package under brand names Budget $aver Cherry Pineapple Monster Pops and Sugar Free Twin Pops.
Ice pops were distributed to retail grocers and distributors in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Product was delivered from April 5-19.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
The recall comes after an inspection of the company’s Denver production facility which found L. monocytogenes in environmental samples.
The Ziegenfelder Company ceased production and distribution at the plant as the state of Colorado and company investigate the cause of the problem.
