Food Safety Recall round-up 21-27 April 2018
Allergen labelling language issue
Norway: Chocolate spread has been recalled due to issues with allergy information on the Norwegian labels.
»Rapunzel Choco», »Rapunzel Tiger Creme» and »Rapunzel Samba Haselnuss» 250g is produced by Rapunzel Naturkost in Germany. Products were taken out of sale by importers and their customers on 23 April.
They are labelled with information in German that the product may contain traces of hazelnuts, almonds, cashew nuts, macadamia nuts, walnuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, lupin and milk.
Products distributed by Norganic AS are labelled with Norwegian label that the product is without milk but also "May contain traces of..." so is misleading to consumers with a milk allergy.
Products distributed by Kinsarvik Fruktutsalg are labelled with Norwegian markings without the information "May contain traces of..."
The error was found following a message to Mattilsynet on an allergic reaction in a person with milk allergy.
