Food Safety Recall round-up 19-25 January 2018
Concerns about hygiene at Russell Hume
UK: The Food Standards Agency and Food Standards Scotland have stopped product leaving Russell Hume sites due to hygiene concerns.
FSA became aware of 'serious non-compliance' with food hygiene regulations after a unannounced inspection at a site in Birmingham. Product is also stored in England, Scotland and Wales.
FSA said Russell Hume was unable to demonstrate compliance with hygiene rules and product is blocked until it can provide assurances they are complying with legislation. Russell Hume has withdrawn all affected product.
Russell Hume distributes meat to Weatherspoon's, hospitality, catering businesses as well as care homes and schools.
There is no indication people have become ill from meat supplied by Russell Hume.
