Tetrodotoxin risk in Japan
Japan: A Japanese supermarket has sold blowfish without removing all of its toxic parts, according to Agence France-Presse.
A supermarket in Gamagori sold five packs of fugu fish without removing the livers which can contain a poison.
Three packs have been found but a local official told AFP to avoid eating fugu until the other two are located.
Tetrodotoxin is a potent toxin found mainly in the liver and sex organs of fish, such as puffer fish, globefish and toadfish, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
