Food Safety Recall round-up 22 December 2017 - 4 January 2018
Plastic and metal in beef stew
US: Swift Beef Co., doing business as JBS USA Food Company, is recalling more than 4,700 pounds of beef stew that may be contaminated with plastic and metal.
Boneless beef stew items were produced on 13 December and shipped to HEB retail stores in Texas, said the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS).
The problem was discovered by the HEB chain in San Antonio, Texas, when they opened boxes containing the multi-vac packages. The same day HEB locked the sales of all stew meat from their registers and pulled all products from shelves in all stores.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the products.
