Gulfood Manufacturing 2017
Ishida
Japanese heavyweight Ishida won two gongs at the inaugural Gulfood Manufacturing awards. The AirScan machine (pictured) was the recipient of one of the awards. Described as “revolutionary” by Ishida, AirScan uses a laser to check for minuscule holes in meat packaging to detect leaks of CO2 in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP).
Torsten Giese, marketing manager at Ishida said: “This machine was launched at InterPack. When you are in the meat industry, in the baking industry, any industry that needs modified atmosphere and uses CO2 in the modified atmosphere to extend shelf-life, this is the machine to check if there are any leakages. Any leakages of CO2 will be sensed by a laser, which is the expensive part of the machine. This machine will give you the certainty that the packs are safe. They arrive at the retailer without any leakages.”
