Savoury bread spreads
While the idea of a savoury spread may not be completely foreign to British consumers, famous for their love of salty, yeast extract Marmite, sweet products such as jam, honey and chocolate spread definitely dominate in Western markets.
Irish manufacturer and online retailer Wyldsson counts a savoury chili and smoked paprika peanut butter among its range of nut butters, made with roasted peanuts, sunflower seeds, tomato, dates, pumpkin seeds, smoked paprika, chilli and coriander.
It also contains Japanese tamari sauce, made with fermented soya beans.
The spread, which has 22% protein, can be eaten on toast for breakfast, added to wraps or stirred into pasta, it says, and retails for £5.49 (€6.24).
