PURE Bioscience has partnered with a plastic pallet pooling service provider in North America.

iGPS Logistics will initially use the PURE Hard Surface disinfectant for sanitizing in five of its 15 pallet pooling centers.

It will be mist-sprayed on surfaces of plastic pallets inside a trailer to eliminate microorganisms and prevent cross contamination.

Jeff Liebesman, CEO of iGPS Logistics, said: “Through our partnership, we can now offer customers a level of hygiene and peace of mind far beyond all industry standards or current capabilities.”

PURE Bioscience said the disinfectant helps transportation firms comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirement that equipment be sanitized to prevent contamination.

Use of plastic pallets continues to expand in the industry and they are increasingly required by processors and retailers.

The creator of the silver dihydrogen citrate (SDC) antimicrobial said pallet sanitization is becoming a critical component of the food safety plan to prevent cross contamination.

Hank R. Lambert, CEO of PURE Bioscience, said: “Our agreement to provide iGPS with our new food transport sanitization solution marks PURE’s entry into a new $50m+ US food transportation sanitization market.”
