PCB levels in eggs
Belgium: L’AFSCA has recalled a batch of eggs after it found the content of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) was exceeded during a routine inspection.
The batch of eggs concerned is 0BE3133 and has been distributed via various retail outlets.
The agency said analyzes confirmed the regulatory standard for PCBs was exceeded and there is a potential risk to the consumer.
L'AFSCA said it has blocked the eggs and is investigating within the establishment to establish the origin of the contamination.
PCBs are organic pollutants that persist in the environment and are harmful to humans.
