E. coli O157 in ground beef
US: Vermont Livestock Slaughter and Processing LLC is recalling 133 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
Ground beef was produced on 24 and 25 July and sold at Bread & Butter farm in Shelburne, Vermont.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS) said two people are ill with onset dates from 18-23 September.
Traceback indicated both case-patients ate ground beef at Bread & Butter Farm supplied by Vermont Livestock Slaughter & Processing.
Vermont Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and FSIS determined the cooked beef burgers served at an event at Bread & Butter Farm was the probable source.
