Acrylamide in kids biscuits
Belgium: Corthouts NV has recalled biscuits for young children branded 'Belkorn Biskids' due to a high acrylamide content.
Belkorn Biskids au jus de pomme concentré 150g with lot number 171401 and date 3-4-18 is affected.
Biscuits were sold in various retail stores. Ingestion of acrylamide in high amounts could be harmful to health. We covered the alert when it was raised by France earlier this year.
The high level of acrylamide (2,803 µg/kg-ppb) was found in the biscuits from Belgium that were distributed to Bulgaria; Croatia; Cyprus; Estonia; France; Hungary; Ireland; Malta; Netherlands; Norway; Poland; Slovenia; Spain and Vietnam, according to the RASFF portal.
