Food safety recall round-up 14-27 July 2017
Clostridium botulinum risk
Ireland: Marks & Spencer is recalling haggis and pudding manufactured by Macsween of Edinburgh due to inadequate process controls.
The controls may not prevent the growth and toxin production of Clostridium botulinum. Marks & Spencer has issued in-store notices requesting customers who have bought the product to return it to a store.
Marks & Spencer Scottish Haggis 454g; Scottish 2 Haggis Slices 130g; Black Pudding 200g; 4 Black Pudding Slices 227g and White Pudding 200g are affected.
Macsween of Edinburgh also recalled products manufactured for Lidl. For a list of products and date codes click here.
"Routine testing has detected high water activity in a limited number of...products which raises concerns about the company's procedures in place to control Clostridium Botulinum. Clostridium botulinum has not been detected in any product and this action is purely a precautionary measure."
