Undeclared milk causes numerous recalls
US: Tyson Foods Inc. is recalling almost 2.5m pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) breaded chicken due to undeclared milk.
RTE breaded chicken items were produced and packaged between August 17, 2016 to January 14, 2017, said the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS). For a list of affected items, dates and codes click here.
Products were shipped for institutional use nationwide and schools have purchased products through Tyson’s commercial channels.
The problem was discovered on 6 June when the company was told by an ingredient supplier that breadcrumbs it received and used in the recalled products potentially contained undeclared milk. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the products.
Gourmet Boutique is recalling almost 300,000 pounds of RTE chicken due to the same problem and Maid-Rite Specialty Foods also recalled 174,000 pounds of various beef.
Conagra Brands recalled 717,338 pounds of spaghetti and meatballs and Packer Avenue Foods Inc. recalled 9,690 pounds of RTE chicken salad.
Aldon Food Corporation recalled 18,570 pounds of chicken salad and Water Lilies Food Inc recalled 4,335 pounds of RTE breaded chicken.
Advance Pierre Foods Inc. recalled 54,699 pounds of chicken and Pork King Sausage recalled 44,035 pounds of raw sausage link products.
Joseph Seviroli Inc. is recalling 114,409 pounds of beef ravioli products and Golden Platter Foods Inc. is recalling 31,662 pounds of poultry and beef products.
