Food safety recall round-up 26 May - 1 June 2017
Undeclared milk in cookies
New Zealand: Kea Cookies is recalling Chocolate Chip and Double Choc Chip cookies due to undeclared milk.
All batches with a Best Before date up to and including 20MAY18 are affected. There have been no reports of illness.
Products are sold in supermarkets, retail outlets throughout New Zealand or online.
Various weights are sold in plastic packaging with/without an outer cardboard box depending on the product.
The firm said the decision was taken following routine sample testing on an ingredient which returned a positive result for a non-declared allergen (milk).
"The ingredient has been used in the past with no recorded issues, so we were very disappointed to find the levels of dairy on the samples tested were above the levels for dairy free.
"We have changed supplier and the ingredient and are continuing to look at a replacement dairy free ingredient so there may be some variation in the appearance of our Chocolate Chip and Double Choc Chip cookies in the next little while."
