Food safety recall round-up 27 January - 2 February 2017
Allergic reactions prompt recall
Canada: Nu Skin Canada Inc. is recalling ageLOC brand TR90 Protein Boost because it contains milk not declared on the label.
The 720g product has code AZ30751 and AZ32051 and was sold nationally at retail level.
The US FDA said it was sold in the US and Canada through independent distributors to end consumers.
Protein Boost is a vegetarian product and has “lactose free” and “does not contain milk” claims on the label. Nu Skin discovered that the flavoring used contains buttermilk, which constitutes 0.1% of overall product formulation.
Some instances of swollen lips, throat irritation, hives and other symptoms that may be indicative of an allergic reaction have been reported.
