Berhe Tekola, director of the animal production and health division at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO): “Meat production in Asia and Africa is growing. The FAO is following a dynamic and holistic approach to sustainable meat production in fast-growing markets, and we expect 70% of the world’s population to be urbanised by 2050. Meat demand will increase, driven by population growth, rising incomes and urbanisation. The fact is that the meat industry is bringing health and education to less wealthy parts of the world. Let’s ignore the noises from extreme groups.”
