Food fraud and allergen management subject of symposium

Food Fraud Prevention and Effective Food Allergen Management in Bari from 26-27 January is organised by MoniQA Association and ISPA-CNR.
Organisers said the event is for the industry/food manufacturers, production auditors and representatives from the regulatory environment.
It will bring together science and innovation, good manufacturing practice, risk assessment and management.
Marco Arlorio, a member of the FOODINTEGRITY consortium from the Università del Piemonte Orientale, will present on artificial intelligence and data mining as tools for the untargeted methods in food traceability/authenticity.
Other presenters include Michael Walker, referee analyst in the Laboratory of the Government Chemist, Cesare Varallo, food lawyer and regulatory specialist, Jeff Moore of United States Pharmacopeia, Bert Popping from Mérieux NutriSciences, Clare Mills, University of Manchester and Samuel Godefroy, Laval University.
Seafood safety
Meanwhile, a conference on seafood safety will be held 25-26 January 2017 in Brussels, Belgium.
The event marks the end of the European Union-funded ECsafeSEAFOOD research project which began in February 2013.
The Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA, I.P.) is coordinator of the consortium of 18 partner organisations from 10 countries.
Topics include research on marine toxins in seafood and the environment, rapid detection tools for environmental contaminants and the future of seafood safety.
