Irish processor ABP Food Group has expanded its operations in Poland with the acquisition of a third production facility in Tykocin, Eastern Poland.

The facility, acquired from Polish processor Sklodowsky, will lift ABP’s production capacity in Poland to up to 250,000 cattle per year and increase its employment in the region to almost 600 people.

ABP began operations in Poland in 2011, through the acquisition of a facility in Pniewy, and this was followed by the acquisition of a second facility in Klosowice in 2013. The business has invested significantly in the country, making its processing plants among the highest standard in Europe.

Production has already started at ABP Tykocin. The main markets for beef produced at the facility include Poland, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Slovenia and Lithuania.
