Elevated levels of pesticide residues in lime
Norway: BAMA has withdrawn lime from Brazil after the discovery of elevated levels of pesticide residues.
It was sold in REMA 1000, SPAR, Joker, KIWI, MENY, Jacob’s, Bunnpris and Storkjøkkenkunder stores since 14 September.
Samples have shown that they contain residues of the pesticide Carbofuran which are over the limit. It can pose a health hazard if there is a high intake.
Mattilsynet said children weighing 14.5kg can eat up to 62g of lime before it can represent health hazard and for adults weighing 60kg it is 257g.
