Food safety recall round-up 12-18 August 2016
E. coli in goat milk cheese
Hong Kong: The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has urged the public not to consume a batch of raw goat milk cheese imported from France due to E. coli contamination.
Valencay raw milk cheese 220g branded Anjouin and manufactured by Fromagerie d'Anjouin with best before August 9 was affected.
The CFS followed up with the importer, Repertoire Culinaire Hong Kong, and learned 24 pieces (220g per piece) had been imported and 19 of them had been distributed to other vendors.
The importer had been notified of the incident by the supplier and the remaining five pieces had been disposed of. It had also notified the vendors which bought the affected product to remove from shelves and stop sale and initiated a recall.
