Get your pulses racing
The fact that 2016 is the United Nation’s year of the pulse gave plant protein a boost.
The Dubai-headquartered Global Confederation of Pulses launched a ‘Made with pulses’ logo at IFT which could be seen around the expo floor. Manufacturers whose products have dried peas, chickpeas or lentils listed as one of the top five ingredients can add the logo to their pack to add value.
Pulse Canada, the body that represents Canadian pea, bean and lentil growers, was giving expo attendees a taste of its lentil granola and pulse trail mix squares.
