Zebra Technologies Corporation is to collaborate with Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions to help manufacturers manage food safety and compliance needs digitally.

The firm said it extends capabilities of Zebra's smart refrigeration tool to mobile supply chain scenarios - providing real-time intelligence and electronic records to meet food safety guidelines.

The cloud-based temperature monitoring system uses wireless sensors, mesh networking, mobile computers and the Zatar Internet of Things (IoT) cloud service.

It also uses the Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions' Cross Domain Development Kit (XDK) that includes multiple sensors for monitoring various product conditions.

Steffen Zacharias, general manager at Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions North America, said: "Combining the ease-of-use and flexibility of Bosch's XDK and Zebra's logistics and cloud technologies enables continuous and real-time monitoring as well as the flexibility to support future solutions."

The dashboard and real-time alerts and notifications allow for proactive actions when monitoring products, said the firm.

Tom Bianculli, VP, Emerging Technology Office at Zebra Technologies, said visibility across the food supply chain is vital for protecting consumers and meeting regulatory demands.

“Zebra is focused on building an ecosystem around its Zatar platform that will enable partners to create enterprise applications for our customers. By developing this reference design with Bosch, we are helping partners build and enable compelling food safety solutions."
