Scottish brewer launches Bourbon ale
Scottish craft brewer Innis & Gunn launched its latest offering last month, Bourbon Pale Ale.
One sip of the 6.0% ABV beer will transport you to Kentucky, bourbon’s birthplace and have you ready to pledge your allegiance to the star spangled banner, the Edinburgh-based brewer claimed.
The ale combines classic American hops, Amarillo and Cascade, with Innis & Gun’s unique brewing method of ageing over Bourbon infused American heartwood oak.
The resulting beer has a true Bourbon taste with a crisp, refreshing finish flavoured with a hint of marzipan – the perfect companion to a spicy thai dish or slow cooked BBQ food on a hot summer’s evening, the firm claimed.
Dougal Sharp, founder of Innis & Gunn, said: "We're excited to launch our Bourbon Pale Ale and as far as beers go it’s as American as they come – minus the cheerleaders and high-fives (sadly).”
The product is available in Tesco, online and in other independent stores with a recommended retail price of £1.99
