Packing in the protein with pulses
Sales from packaged sources of protein are relatively low in emerging markets such as the Middle East where the majority of their protein intake comes from fresh food – but this is tipped to change.
Pulses and nuts will do especially well in emerging markets, where they are already seen as traditional alternatives to meat, says Euromonitor, with global annual growth rates for pulses are forecast to reach 4% over 2014 to 2019.
