Wessanen reports strong Q1 volume growth

EBIT reached €12.3m, up 32% from €9.3m for the prior year period, and takes into account revenue from its January acquisition of Abafoods for the first time.
CEO Christophe Barnouin said in a statement that Abafoods, which makes the Isola Bio brand of organic drinks, and non-soy cereal drinks for the Bjorg and Bonneterre brands, among others, was performing according to expectations.
“We have increased our marketing investments in the quarter and we are to grow it for 2015 as well. We however plan the phasing of our spending to be different from last year, being more weighted to the first half,” he said.
“Innovations and line extensions such as Allos Hofgemüse, Bjorg fourrés lemon, Isola Bio cereal drinks and Clipper teas perform well. Focal areas remain to realise new listing and expand shelf space as we did successfully in the past periods.”
