Marc De Peuter, marketing manager at Belgium-based firm FAM, said its main focus in terms of meat products was on developing equipment that produces meats with a "hand-pulled look". The Yuran machine contains a lot of different components, and the way they are implemented means you get products with a different look, such as finely shredded, or strips. De Peuter said there was a huge market for hand-pulled products in Scandinavia, as well as the US and Brazil. "It’s becoming a global trend," he added.
Another new development is the company’s GD500 Guillotine Dicer, which can create slices, cubes and strips of meat and poultry products. Its CMD2 Dicing Machine has also been upgraded to respond to higher sanitary specifications, "which the industry is asking for".
