FSSC 22000 has added a voluntary ISO 9001:2008 module to its existing scheme from the start of this month.

FSSC 22000-Q certification is for organizations wanting to be FSSC 22000 audited and certified for Food Safety and Quality Management Systems.

Organizations can choose to be audited for food safety only or to have the QMS Module added to FSSC 22000 certification.

Certification bodies offering the FSSC 22000 QMS module must be accredited for ISO 9001 and auditors must meet all relevant competence requirements.

FSSC 22000 has also become the first scheme to be reviewed by Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) to meet new food safety and integrity criteria.

After the horse meat scandal the Dutch Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport and the Dutch Minister for Agriculture established a Food Confidence Task Force.
