US appeals COOL decision
Earlier this month, the United States decided to appeal a World Trade Organisation (WTO) decision on its amended country-of-origin labelling (COOL) measures, in the long running dispute with Canada and Mexico. In October a WTO panel ruled that the US’ COOL rules violated part of the Technical Barriers to Trade Agreement and said the measures resulted in a detrimental effect on the opportunities for imported livestock on the US market.
