Chemicals in baby food
12 December - Ireland: Holle Baby Food Serviceburo has recalled some Holle branded and Lebenswert branded baby foods due to the presence of atropine and scopolamine in some batches tested.
These chemicals are undesirable plant constituents. Consumption may cause short term adverse effects, such as, dilated pupils, change of heart rate, dryness of the mouth, constipation, urinary retention and flushed skin.
Chemicals will be excreted from the body and there are no long term health effects.
Products originated from Switzerland and Germany.
The recall also affected Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cypurs, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovenia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, FYROM and the UK.
