Warnings over bushmeat following Ebola outbreak
With the Ebola outbreak front-page news over the summer, stories regarding the transmission of the disease through bush meat surfaced. Warnings were issued across Africa about the consumption of bush meat – a popular food in the country, with imports of bush meat banned from West Africa by other African countries such as Nigeria. The European Food Safety Authority later put out a report which stated that the risk of Ebola being introduced and transmitted to Europe through illegally imported bush meat was low.
