FAO warns over new bird flu strain
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) warned that a new strain of avian influenza – H5N6 – should be closely monitored in order to avoid a major threat to animal health. The strain recently emerged in south-east Asia, and was first reported by the Chinese authorities in April this year.
