Swedish government pushes for antibiotic reform
The Swedish government pushed for EU reforms on antibiotic use in healthy livestock. It expanded the scope of its domestic animal care farm improvement scheme to include creating a "partnership of like-minded European states", willing to back its push for reforms. The country’s rural affairs minister Eskil Erlandsson said over-use of antibiotics not only reduced resilience to disease in healthy animals, but it was also a public health issue.
