Nicaragua raises foot-and-mouth concerns
In April the Nicaraguan government voiced its concerns over the planned reopening of the US market to Brazilian beef, over fears that foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) could spread to north and central America. A Brazilian representative at a World Trade Organisation meeting about the issue suggested Nicaragua’s real concerns were purely commercial.
