Dr Bert Pöpping appointed to newly created role at Mérieux NutriSciences
Dr Bert Pöpping has been appointed to a newly created role at Mérieux NutriSciences and will be responsible for developing and implementing chemistry and molecular biology strategy.

He will be corporate food chemistry and molecular biology CSO (Chief Scientific Officer) at the firm.

Dr Pöpping, who previously worked at Eurofins, is author of more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications in food safety, allergen testing, authenticity and genetically modified organisms (GMO) analysis.

He served and serves on committees as chair or member, including the board of directors of the AOAC Research Institute, board of directors of the German Association of Wholesale Traders in Oils, Fats and Oil Raw Materials (GROFOR).

Executive board of MoniQA’s Global Food Safety Network, the European Standardization Committee (CEN), the British Standards Institute (BSI), the German Ministry Methods Working Groups, the AOAC and the German Standardization Institute.

Jean-François Billet, SVP corporate development, said Pöpping’s international experience and knowledge of the food sector will enable it to help solve the challenges customers face. 

“This move will support the industry to guarantee the safety and quality of their products worldwide and protect brand names,” ​he said.
