The issue of retailer and supplier relations lies at the heart of the recent inquiry into Tesco’s overstatement of profits, and the retailer was tight-lipped at Wine Vision 2014, with senior wine product development manager Laura Jewell declining to even discuss what she told delegates was her desire for packaging innovation with BeverageDaily.com.
Nonetheless, an all-star panel at Wine Vision discussed this issue, and also touched on generational change and the rise of millennials, promising emerging markets and the need to create a point of difference in a crowded wine category.
