Interpack 2014
Benelux-based firm VC999 Packaging Systems was showcasing a new slicer at the show - the S2600. Jos Segers, account manager at VC999 told GlobalMeatNews that the new machine featured special guides to ensure that the sausages kept their shape from start to finish. He said the firm also has a patent on the knife, which softly cuts through the product to avoid squashing it. "It’s the same principal as with a chef, the knife does the work," said Segers. "We can also slice at a higher temperature, which offers cost savings." Segers said that as well as maintaining product quality, VC999 was focussed on helping customers save money and make cleaning easier. "We try to work on using a low amount of energy - so we’re not creating a lot of heat," added Segers. The company also promoted its new K9 line - a conveyorised chamber vacuum packing machine, for high performance. Segers said the machine was designed to handle large pieces of meat, so would be suitable for larger slaughter houses. It is the largest chamber belt machine ever launched by the firm and is constructed from stainless steel.
