Mettler Toledo’s Product Inspection Division was showcasing a new metal detection system - Series 100. It is designed to European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group (EHEDG) standards and features a fully customisable hygienic open construction design with a clean stainless steel brushed finish casing, rounded tubular construction frame and sloped surfaces. "Another trend we are focusing on is machine safety, as well as the labelling of the product," said Ralph Swinka, marketing manager. "It’s about making sure the label looks the best it can and is on straight, for example. We have tried to take our expertise from our involvement in the cosmetics industry, which is very demanding, into the food industry." The firm has also launched a new checkweighing platform system - the C3000. It covers a weighing range of up to 10kg and allows food manufacturers to inspect up to 600 products per minute. Swinka said the firm was also looking to develop more energy efficient equipment.
