Interpack 2014
Eagle showcased three key products at the show: the new dual-view x-ray inspection system (Tall PRO XSDV); the Pack 550 PRO x-ray inspection system; and the FA3 fat analysis machine for fresh or frozen meat products. FA3 is Eagle’s third generation fat analysis machine. "There are two types of business types that would benefit from this type of machine: slaughter houses and meat processors," said Michael Stuart, Eagle product specialist. For slaughter businesses, when the primals are taken off you still get a reasonable among of trimmings which can be used in burgers, for example, he explained. "The FA3 can analyse the fat content of that meat," he said. "The traditional way of grading fat content is by eye, but this can lead to errors. This machine can lead to cost savings." It can also work out the fat content of the meat needed to make specific products, he said. "The FA3 can tell you the protein and moisture content of meat." Stuart explained that Eagle had a strong background in x-ray, and that the information on protein and moisture content came after the firm looked at how it could develop the fat analysis machine for meat processors and producers.
