Follow-up meeting on BPA

EFSA launched an open consultation on the draft opinion on the human health risks of BPA for consumers, developed by the EFSA Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF) in January this year and last summer.
The draft assessment also includes a re-evaluation of the tolerable daily intake for BPA.
“The aim of the meeting is to discuss with all contributing interested parties, scientific experts and EFSA staff the comments received during the public consultations on the CEF Panel’s draft assessments of BPA exposure and BPA health risks, to ensure a full understanding of the submitted contributions,” EFSA said, in a statement.
The meeting will focus on the comments received on the CEF Panel’s draft opinions on BPA exposure and human health risks. The overall BPA draft risk assessment and the comments received during the public consultations.
Before adoption by the CEF Panel the draft assessments will be revised, if needed, taking into account the meeting’s discussions and the comments received during the public consultation process.
A separate report on the public consultation and the comments received will be published with the opinion.
