Wild Flavors GmbH plans to expand two European facilities for natural flavours, colours, plant extracts and fruit-based sweeteners, the company has said.

The company plans to add 11,165 square metres to its existing site in Valencia, Spain, after it acquired three plots of land bordering its existing facility in December. It also bought about 6,500 square metres of land on the River Spree in Berlin, Germany late last year, next to its existing facility there.

The Valencia site produces fruit juice concentrates and sweetening systems, fruit- and vegetable-derived red colours, plant extracts and natural citrus flavours, while the Berlin site produces flavours , extracts from plants, herbs and spices, and tea and colour extracts.

The company said the expansions would lead to further growth and job opportunities, and encourage employee retention.

“We have successfully acquired the last free space near our company so we can continue to grow,” said Wild managing director Thomas Eller. “The decision to make this purchase signals a clear commitment to our location here in Germany's capital city, and it protects jobs.”

The German site would eventually be used as a production area, the company said, adding that in Valencia, the space would be used to improve loading and traffic flow, moving staff parking offsite, and freeing space for a new warehouse.

“Purchasing this strategically advantageous commercial real estate is part of our overall concept to improve material flow and help secure our location and jobs,” said managing director Wild Valencia Francisco Climent.
