Mettler Toledo has joined the Organization for Machine Automation and Control (OMAC) and its Product Inspection Division will participate in OMAC’s Packaging Workgroup (OPW).

The Product Inspection Division provides PackML, an OMAC-developed method that supplies machine-state information for all forms of packaging equipment, on all four types of its product inspection equipment.

It began applying PackML in 2006, after the standard was defined by OMAC.

OMAC was formed to allow manufacturers and users to share best practices, and to find innovative ways to be successful in their production operations.

It includes industry leaders in control products, machinery OEMs, and producers of consumer product goods, food manufacturers, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Notable end users of OMAC commnication standards include Nestle, Procter and Gamble, Pepsico, Rockwell, Siemens, GE, B&R, and Schneider Electric.

OMAC’s OPW group is currently working to develop further packaging industry standards for safety communication, information presentation on user interfaces, signaling methods, and equipment specifications.
