Milan to stage new meat industry event
A new meat processing and packaging show is to be held in Milan the year after next as part of an event organised by the Centrexpo Ipack-Ima Group.

Meat-Tech will be staged alongside five of the group’s other shows at Fieramilano on May 19-23 2015. The shows – including Ipack-Ima, Fruitech, Intralogistica Italia, Converflex and Grafitalia – cover the whole food processing and packaging chain.

It is expected the six shows will feature around 2,500 exhibitors and attract 100,000 visitors.

According to organisers, Meat-Tech was developed to showcase the top technological products available to the meat processing sector, packaging, preservation and distribution.

Ipack-Ima Spa CEO Guido Corbella said: “By launching Meat-Tech we believe we are capturing and catering to the needs and expectations of our meat industry stakeholders, who asked us to relocate their event in an international setting fully integrated into the supply chain. We now have the opportunity to apply our strategy to this area as well, giving increased value to IPACK-IMA’s business communities with co-located, independent events.”

Maria Grazia Facchinetti, marketing and communication manager for Centrexpo/Ipack-Ima, told press at Process Expo 2013 that Meat-Tech began as business community in the Ipack-Ima exhibition, which focuses on packaging technology and materials for the processing sector, but had grown big enough to become an exhibition in its own right.

Facchinetti said that the theme for Ipack-Ima 2015 would be be “sustainable processing and packaging for development”, with seminar and training sessions across the six shows to address cultural, economical and environmental sustainability in food processing and packaging.

She added that the event would therefore have “perfect synergy” with Expo Milano 2015, which will take place in Milan from May to November. It is expected that 133 countries will take part in the world expo, and they have been asked to focus on issues related to hunger, food security, food safety, obesity and waste of natural resources.
