Food safety recall round-up 25-31 October
Salami that missed inspection recalled
26 October - USA: Ferrarini USA, Importer of Record in San Fernando, California is recalling 13,118 pounds of salami products that were not presented for import reinspection, said the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS).
Import reinspection by FSIS is required before the product is eligible to enter commerce.
FSIS import inspection staff and the import house discovered the problem when the shipment was not presented for reinspection as scheduled but no reports of illnesses have been received.
Each box bears the code “IT G4279 CE” inside the Italian mark of inspection, though individual logs may not. The products were shipped to distributors in Arizona and California for further distribution to retailers.
