Food colour shows red for EFTA
5 August - Greece: The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) has forced the withdrawal of certain products after they were found to contain food colour E 120 (cochineal, carminic acid, carmines).
The colour is a food additive non permitted for use for these specific foodstuffs, said EFET.
EFET worked with regional directorates in Attica and Central Macedonia in the investigation following a consumer complaint.
Certain lot codes of pork shoulder in slices for pizza Aro weighing 1kg, which is produced by the company “Afoi Panteri S.A.” for the company “Makro Cash and carry Xondremporiki” were withdrawn.
Certain codes of “Cooked Turkey” Passias, weighing 180g, produced by the company “Passias Avee" are also affected.
EFET requested the immediate recall/withdrawal of certain batches of the above mentioned products by the companies.
