Swiss flavour firm Firmenich chairman Vernon Sankey retired from the company on June 30 and has been replaced by Yves Boisdron.

Boisdron joined the Firmenich board in 2006 and has served as vice chairman of the board and chairman of its governance and compensation committee.

Sankey, who also joined the board in 2006, “nurtured and grew” Firmenich and made a significant contribution during his seven years with the firm, it claimed.

‘Excellence in execution’

His chairmanship began during the world’s worst economic and financial crisis since the 1930s. Despite the economic slowdown, he ensured the resiliency of Firmenich by advocating excellence in execution and tight cost control while maintaining strategic investments into innovation,” Firmenich added in a statement.

Before joining Firmenich, Oxford University graduate Sankey spent most of his career with food and pharmaceutical firm Reckitt & Colman (R&C) – until its merger with the Dutch firm, Benckiser in 1999.
