Salmonella linked to peanut and almond butter
May 10 - Canada: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to consume certain almond butter, peanut butter and tahini sold in bulk or repackaged because the products may be contaminated with salmonella.
The firm, Tootsi Impex, distributed products manufactured by Vicrossano from May to November 2012 in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
A Tootsi Impex statement said: "...we would like to reassure that Tootsi Impex is working responsibly and transparently with CFIA officials to take all necessary actions to ensure that products are completely cleared and destroyed from the store shelves."
